Claire Sweeney insists she’s not had nose job ahead of ‘explosive’ Corrie debut

Actress Claire Sweeney insists that she has not had a nose job.

The former Brookside star, 52, tries not to worry about what she looks like but jokes “in my mind I want to be Elle Macpherson”.

Claire, 52, said: “I’ve had Botox and I’m not ashamed to admit it, although I was accused of having a nose job on Twitter not long ago – which I have not had.

“I’ve never been a raving beauty or stick thin, so I’ve always been relatable in that way.”

Speaking about her diet and health routines, she added: “I’ll be as good as gold, going to the gym and doing Pilates.

“The next minute I fall off the wagon and think, ‘Why bother?’ and I’ll go and eat everything.”

It comes after the news that Claire has joined the cast of Coronation Street as Tyrone Dobbs’ (Alan Halsall) mum Cassie.

Tyrone has previously been told by his grandmother, Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman), that her daughter and his biological mother Cassie is dead.

So when Cassie turns up out of the blue, Evelyn is faced with a dilemma as she has to decide whether to come clean to Tyrone about her lies.

The Weatherfield mechanic grew up believing his real mum was Jackie Dobbs (Margi Clark), but he discovered the truth about his parentage years later.

Not trusting Cassandra to look after Tyrone properly due to her drug addiction, Evelyn left Tyrone at a police station in 1982 where he was found by Jackie who brought him up as her own.

But Tyrone is set to face more heartache when he comes to terms with his grandma’s, while trying to navigate a relationship with his mother.

Corrie Producer Iain MacLeod promised Cassie’s arrival will cause “electric” scenes when they air in June.

Discussing her new role, Claire compared being cast in the soap to landing a part in a Hollywood movie.

“Even though I’ve been lucky enough to have enjoyed an amazingly varied career for nearly 40 years – being cast in Coronation Street is, to me, better than being cast in a Hollywood movie!,” she said.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 at 8pm
