Coronation Street fans swoon as they beg for ‘hot’ character to be made permanent

Coronation Street fans have begged bosses to make DS Swain a permanent character on the soap.

The police officer, played by Victoria Meyer, has cropped up several times in recent weeks as she became the lead investigator in Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) death. During Monday’s episode (November 20) of the ITV soap, DS Swain arrived once again and arrested Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) for kidnapping Dan.

Her presence was welcomed with open arms amongst fans, who voiced hopes of the character becoming a regular resident on the Cobbles. Taking to social media, one penned: “I hope we see more of DS Swain.”

A fourth said: “please make DS Swain a regular character ASAP!” Someone else penned: “Love DS Swain and her appearances.” While another echoed: “I like DS Swain she’s hot.” During the episode, Amy was arrested by DS Swain for drugging and kidnapping Dan.

Last week, fans watched Amy come across Dan as he was spiking a woman’s drink. Charging over, Amy knocked the drink out of the woman’s hand before explaining what Dan was attempting to do.

Amy revealed she was raped by a man like Dan and wants to prevent it from happening to anyone else. Afterwards, Amy began flirting with Dan as he attempted to spike her too.

What he didn’t realise was Amy had switched their drinks. The next day, DS Swain arrived and revealed Dan almost died, but had woken up and accused Amy of kidnapping him.

DS Swain dropped the charges against Amy

With Amy in for an interview, DS Swain continued her line of questioning into her version of events. Amy asked why Dan wasn’t being questioned himself, given that he was spiking women’s drinks.

Later, DS Swain returned to the interview room and revealed they were dropping the investigation. She explained that Dan had been linked to a number of sexual assaults in the area and they would now be looking into him.
