Coronation Street star Sam Aston’s wife Briony has suffered her second devastating miscarriage in four months.
Briony, who is married to the Chesney Brown star, issued an emotional statement on Instagram on Saturday (July 1), confirming that she has sadly lost her baby – but wants to “break the taboo” around talking about miscarriage.
Sharing a snap of a Clearblue pregnancy test with the words “not pregnant anymore” written on, Briony penned a lengthy caption, promising fans she feels “the opposite of alone” with her support network in place.

She penned: “This is a difficult thing to share, but in the interest of breaking the taboo, I’m miscarrying again, the second time in four months… it’s heartbreaking and it’s unfair, BUT I’m not seeking sympathy, I feel well supported and want others to feel supported too.
“And that’s why I wanted to post this today, because having people you can talk to and receiving comfort from those who have been through something similar makes the world of difference.”
Briony confirmed that she and Sam had told their friends and family about both pregnancies, explaining: “I knew that, for me, I would want support from those people if it wasn’t meant to last. But I wouldn’t have been so open had I not heard from other women about the babies they lost and their stories.”
She added: “So thank you to all the women before me who have shared their stories and talked about their babies, it makes processing this a lot easier, and I don’t feel alone at all.
“In fact I feel the opposite of alone, I feel held and heard and I hope that by continuing these difficult conversations about miscarriage and pregnancy loss we open the door for others who will sadly experience loss too.”
Sam’s Corrie co-stars rushed to support Briony in the comments section, with Andy Whyment and Brooke Vincent leaving a row of heart emojis to show their love for the couple.
Someone else wrote: “I’m so sorry to hear this. Miscarriage is one of the hardest things in life to go through but thank you for raising awareness and trying to break the taboo so that more women can be supported to feel less alone.”
Another fan echoed: “I’m so sorry you are having to go through this, but as most of the comments say, you live a life supporting us mums that needed you the most so it’s so important to get that back.”

Sam and Briony share two children together, son Sonny James and daughter Daisy Josephine, who was born in May 2022.
Sam told OK! Magazine of the birth: “It all happened so fast. We’d just had some tea and then I put the telly on to watch some football, but then all of a sudden I heard Briony upstairs.
“I could tell Briony’s contractions were coming thick and fast, so I was called the midwife and was like, ‘Quick, you need to get here now!’”
