Coronation Street actor, Jude Riordan, has taken a break from acting on the cobbles to deliver a short yet heartfelt message to his Emmerdale star dad.
The St Helens performer has risen to popularity in Weatherfield for his portrayal of Sam Blakeman, and he can thank a degree of success to the genetics gifted to him by his father.
Having previously worked on Corrie himself, Paul Riordan has traded Manchester to direct in West Yorkshire on ITV’s other hit soap.

It goes without saying that he’s extremely proud of his son, and it appears the feeling is mutual.

At just 12, Jude isn’t quite old enough to partake in social media antics. Therefore, it’s down to his mother to keep his fans in the loop as he paves a career for himself in the realm of show business.
Taking his wishes into account, Jude’s mum posted a Father’s Day message to his dad.
Alongside two images of the pair together, the young actor referred to his dad as ‘The best’.
The message said: “HFD to all, especially the best @paulrio27 #happyfathersday #thebest.”

Unsurprisingly, his adoring fans flocked to the comment section to offer their words of support.
Elayne said: “Have a lovely day with your Dad, Jude. Hope you’ve been spoiling him.”
While Janette added: “Great photos… Have a lovely day with your dad.”
Shelley commented: “Beautiful photos. Hope your dad has a great day.”

Jude’s character arrived on the scene aged nine, after his mother, Natasha Blakeman, accidentally bumped into Nick Tilsely, whom she’d created a child with.
Gail Platt’s son had no idea he had a son, having previously broken up with Natasha. Luckily she agreed to let him become part of Jude’s life.
With a passion for astronomy, the youngster gravitated towards academics but had to deal with tragedy when his mother was shot dead by gangster, Harvey Gaskell.
But while devastating, in a testament to his mental resilience, he’s recovered and even found love, albeit briefly, with Hope Dobbs.
