Corrie star in live TV blunder as she nearly misses show after getting ‘stuck in loo’

Shobna Gulati faced a spot of drama after she “got stuck in the loo” — almost missing her appearance on Steph’s Packed Lunch.

The former Coronation Street star, 57, sat down for an interview on the Channel 4 show on Thursday (September 14) along with Hayley Tamaddon.

But it seems Shobna, who played Sunita Alahan on the ITV soap, almost didn’t make it after facing a rather awkward situation.

While on the programme, the pair were discussing their roles in the smash hit musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

And things took a rather hilarious turn when Hayley, who played Delilah Dingle on Emmerdale and appeared in Coronation Street as Andrea Beckett, revealed their eventful morning.

Shobna nearly missed her appearance on Steph’s Packed Lunch

She told Steph: “Do you know she got locked in your toilet earlier today.”

The studio audience then started laughing, as Shobna looked flushed with embarrassment.

Hayley went on: “We’ve had a great morning honestly. She got locked in the loo, it was brilliant, we’re lucky she’s here.”

Steph replied: “How did you get out?”

Actress Hayley then explained: “I had to use a credit card to unlock it.”

Shobna ended up getting locked in the toilet

Hayley shared footage of the unfortunate incident on her Instagram Story, with Shobna eventually being freed by her pal via the use of her credit card.

Shobna made her Corrie debt way back in 2001, and as the wife of show alum Dev Alahan and mum of twins Aadi and Asha Alahan, who are still on the show, Sunita became a hit with viewers.

But in 2013, and after 12 years on the cobbles, Sunita was killed off from the soap in a horrific fire at the Rovers Return pub.

Following her exit, Shobna kept herself busy, starring in the likes of West End smash Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, and Channel 4’s sitcom Hullraisers.

And she even released her own memoir Remember Me? in 2020 which followed her experiences on losing a parent to dementia.
