Corrie star unrecognisable in Hollywood blockbuster alongside Stranger Things actor

Coronation Street fans have been left doing a double take as they spotted one ITV soap star in a major Hollywood blockbuster.

He appears alongside a whole host of A-listers, including Orlando Bloom and Stranger Things alum David Harbour.

If you haven’t guessed who it is already, we’ll give you a hint. He played Fiz Stape’s fiancé in the long-running show.

No?

It’s Jamie Kenna, who shot to fame as Phill Whittaker in the soap. Phill was the crime writing beau of Fiz, who she eventually left to rekindle things with her ex Tyrone Dobbs.

One Coronation Street star looked unrecognisable in a new Hollywood film

Phill was keen on writing a book about Fiz’s late husband John Stape and his killing spree, which led to mounting tension between the pair as Hope did more digging into her dad’s crimes.

But Jamie left the soap 2022 after starring in 63 episodes, and now he’s popped up in the new Gran Turismo film based on the bestselling PlayStation games.

He plays Jack Man Jones, a member of the Nissan pit crew who help shoot Archie Madekwe’s character Jann Mardenborough to the podium at Le Mans.

He looks totally unrecognisable for plenty of the scenes, rocking leather racing gear and a helmet as he helps to get the car track-ready – and much more competent than the bumbling Phill.

Based on a true story, the film also – bizarrely – sees Spice Girls star Geri Horner make an appearance as Jann’s mum Lesley.

David Harbour plays the all-American driving instructor Jack Salter, while Orlando Bloom puts a face to marketing strategist Danny Moore.

It’s not Jamie’s first rodeo when it comes to the big screen, however, as he’s also held a small part in 2006 flick Children of Men starring Julianne Moore, and in two Jason Statham hits: The Bank Job in 2008 and Blitz in 2011.

Acting wasn’t always Jamie’s career – he used to be a semi-professional footballer, playing for Rusthall FC, but he later proved acting was his passion.
