Coronation Street star Alex Bain has quit social media following reports he has called off his engagement.
The 21-year-old, who plays Simon Barlow on the long-running ITV soap, dated his ex-fiancé Mollie a Lockwood for three years.
But recently the pair apparently ended things, just six months after they got engaged on their two-year anniversary.

Since the sad reports broke, Alex has deleted all traces of his fiancée from his Instagram profile.
He also took to his Instagram Story to announce he’s quitting social media in order to “heal”.
He wrote: “Due to recent personal life events, I will be taking a break from all forms of social media.
I’m sure you can all understand. I will still be around however, because of certain numbers of comments made on the recent articles, and numerous other personal reasons, I will be stepping away for a while to work on myself and personal healing.
“For now, unless it’s necessary for me to be here, I will be very absent for a while.”
He then continued: “Remember everyone: try to be kind to the people in the world, as under the surface no one knows everyone’s own struggles.
“And to those who have messaged me personally: I have seen them and I thank you, from the bottom of my heart.”
He ended the emotional post with a simple red heart emoji.
Following his alleged split from Mollie, an insider told The Sun: “They’re gutted the relationship didn’t work out, but they’re both so young it’s hard to make such a big commitment early on in their lives.
“Their mates have rallied around to support them and keep them busy. Simon is focused on the soap and getting stuck into storylines and his role.”
Alex and Mollie dated for three years before the actor popped the question during a romantic night out in Chester last year to celebrate their two-year anniversary.
Alex and Mollie previously opened up about their relationship to OK! Magazine, including how they met and a sweet confession from the actor about his fiancée.
The couple met when Mollie was auditioning for a performing arts college in the North West, with Alex saying that he “couldn’t take his eyes off her,” when they performed during an acting scene together later that day.
He gushed: “She was already my ideal type because, well, look at her! But she also came across as really hardworking and ambitious.
