One man falls overboard but is soon saved by the mermaid Ariel, who swims him to shore and places his unconscious body on the sand just as the sun begins to rise.
Ariel saves him and takes him to the shore where she sings to him
The following gives fans a taste of Ariel’s underwater world which she travels through with her loyal friend a fish named Flounder, played by Jacob Tremblay, at her side.
Her father, King Triton (Javier Bardem), is then seen telling Ariel off for “breaking the rules” by “going to the above world.”
She tries to explain that she did so in order to save a man in trouble, but King Triton won’t have it.
He tells her: “Your obsession with humans has to stop.”
And Ariel says: “I just want to know more about them.”
So The Little Mermaid travels to the infamous sea witch Ursula and gets turned into a human.
After an array of bright and colorful lights in the pit of Ursula’s den, Ariel is seen swimming to the surface with legs instead of the tale she’s always known.
Of course, there is the catch that she will have to get the “kiss of true love” to remain a human.
King Triton tells her: “He’s a human. You’re a mermaid.”
To which Ariel replies: “That doesn’t make us enemies.”
At the end of the trailer, Halle is belting out the beloved Disney song Part of Your World.
The new film will feature four original songs as well as some beloved tracks from the animated version the movie.
