EastEnders Lily Slater star shares throwback to forgotten first role on BBC soap

EastEnders star Lilia Turner has become a key member of the cast over the past year with a string of hard-hitting storylines.

But fans of the show may be surprised to know playing troubled Lily Slater isn’t the young starlet’s first role in the hit BBC soap.

Lilia took to Twitter to share a picture of herself in a throwback episode of the soap where she was part of a group of children being football coached by Mick Carter and Mitch Baker.

She also posted a second image of herself looking much younger than her current appearance as she excitedly pointed to her name on the credits of the episode under the character name ‘Alyssa’.

She captioned the post: “Throwback to my first # EastEnders role.”

Fans of EastEnders will know that Lilia is currently taking on the controversial storyline that saw her 12-year-old on-screen persona fall pregnant.

Lily discovered she was expecting a baby after a carbon monoxide leak at the Slater residence landed her in hospital.

She then tried to keep the identity of the father of her baby a secret from the police and social services as well as her family members, but eventually confessed that it was in fact school friend Ricky Branning.

Lily originally planned to have a termination of her pregnancy fearing she was too young to raise a baby, but changed her mind after she heard her cousin Whitney Dean discussing her own pregnancy.

Her decision has caused some controversy as not everyone was initially happy for her to keep the baby – especially Ricky’s dad Jack Branning.

However, Ricky’s mum Sam Mitchell has been won over by the idea and even attended Lily’s baby scan with her and excitedly viewed her future grandchild on the ultrasound.

Since then viewers saw Lily’s dad Ryan Malloy return to Albert Square and attempt to convince his daughter to leave Walford and return to Wakefield and live with him.

However, while she initially agreed to the move to help her struggling mum Stacey Slater with her money troubles, Lily soon changed her mind when she heard a blazing row between Ryan and Stacey where he attempted to belittle her mother.

EastEnders airs Monday – Thursday at 7.30 pm on BBC One and is available to view on BBC iPlayer daily.
