the actor, bid farewell to the BBC soap after only a year since joining as Mitch Baker’s nephew, alongside his brother Felix Baker and their late father Avery.

The news of Ashley’s departure from the show came as a surprise, as it had not been previously announced.

His character, Finlay, exited the storyline after getting on the wrong side of the Panesar family.

The way his exit was depicted onscreen was rather sudden, as he faced threats during Tuesday’s episode and hastily fled on Wednesday night (June 28).

This departure marks the end of Ashley’s involvement with the soap, as he is no longer filming for the show. Some fans are hoping that his absence will be temporary.

In the storyline leading up to his exit, Finlay confronted Vinny Panesar about his tampered car brakes, discovering Vinny’s necklace at the scene of the crime.

Realizing the severity of the situation, Vinny’s mother Suki took matters into her own hands with the assistance of her stepson Ravi.

When Finlay learned that the intended target was Eve Unwin, he threatened to expose the truth and kept the necklace as evidence.

However, Ravi and Suki resorted to threatening the life of Finlay’s brother Felix if he revealed everything, forcing him to leave Walford within 24 hours.

While Suki appeared content with the outcome, fans expressed their disappointment with how Finlay’s departure unfolded.

one fan said: “The whole Finlay exit storyline was so random. could have just killed him off or something more exciting, that felt so thrown together and disrespectful for the actor.”

Another said: “I think Eastenders made a massive mistake with the way that the Panesars treated Finlay tonight. It could be a big mis-step.”
