Emmerdale fan favourite Mackenzie Boyd could be involved in a shocking turnaround in the New Year, as fans have pegged him for a “psychopath”.
Mack’s behaviour has been erratic since he cheated on his wife Charity Dingle with Chloe Harris, and the pair went on to welcome son Reuben together. Then Mack was determined to keep his little family together, despite cheating on Chloe with Charity.
It all came to a head when he left Chloe for dead in a near-fatal car crash, choosing to save his first love Charity before the mother of his child. In revenge, Chloe’s dad Damon kidnapped Mack, keeping him tied up and beating him as he begged him to sign custody over to Chloe.

When Charity killed Damon to rescue her husband, things went from bad to worse as fans witnessed her having a breakdown after the murder – which they lied to the police about. But Mack seemed much more unaffected, even offering to go in on a dodgy job with Aaron and leaving Charity to cope alone.

Now fans are sure Mack is hiding a dark secret. One suggested he could be a diagnosed psychopath – and the soap could delve more into his dark character arc as time goes by.
One X user wrote: “Mack’s most likely a psychopath based on a conversation Charity had with Vanessa in early 2022. Not all narcissists are psychopaths, but all psychopaths are narcissists according to some theories. They’ve likely delayed the reveal due to accommodating various maternity leaves.”
They went on: “It’s quite obvious. He’s an emotionally abusive narcissist who has zero empathy. Possibly a psychopath. Narcissism is one of Mack’s primary traits. It’s been obvious for years. He is completely incapable of seeing any POV except his own. His favourite line when he doesn’t get exactly what he wants is pretending he hasn’t even had a say.
“Narcissists are capable of masking. Mack does this a lot, but if you were paying closer attention, you’d notice that it only happens when he wants something. Like how his behaviour immediately changed with Chloe once he decided he wanted access to Reuben.”
However, another social media user argued: “Mack often shows concern for Charity & Reuben’s feelings!! The word ‘narcissist’ is losing its seriousness due to everyone claiming their ‘ex is one’ or claiming every abuser is one [but] we’ll have to agree to disagree.”

But Mack isn’t the only character fans have their eye on. Some are pointing to Belle’s new fiancé Tom King, sure he is also hiding a dark secret after her ice rink proposal.
One user commented: “Tom is giving me real psychopath vibes. He seems very controlling and insecure. The last two episodes kind of give that vibe.” As another posted: “Tom the psychopath is up to his tricks again!”
