Germany’s Eurovision stars Lord Of The Lost have revealed what it was like to meet King Charles III – and what the monarch spoke to the group about.
Lord Of The Lost, who are representing Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with their song Blood and Glitter, met fans at Euroclub, organised by the OGAE fan club at Camp and Furnace in UK host city Liverpool on Friday (May 5, 2023).
During the event they took part in a Q&A panel, where the group revealed that they recently had the chance to meet King Charles.

Asked what it was like to meet the monarch, lead singer Chris said: “It was very nice.

“He has such a calm aura and atmosphere. When he comes over he talks very quietly. Very respectful. I really like that.”
The singer also revealed that King Charles was keen to talk to them about their outfits, adding: “He made it a very humble experience. He was very interested in us, asked a lot about our costume design.
“Really very, very nice.”

Lord Of The Lost formed in 2009 and have performed sold out tours across Europe and first started applying for the competition over a decade ago, with Chris saying he has “loved it [Eurovision] to the bones since I was a kid.”
They are also due to support rock legends Iron Maiden on their upcoming tour, but before then the group are currently in rehearsals for the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, which is taking place on Saturday May 13, 2023 at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena.
Speaking about their upcoming performance, Lord Of The Lost teased that they have the highest staging in the competition – featuring a seven metre high pyramid.
“I think we have the highest…the longest one. We have the highest staging so to say. Seven metres I think,” said Chris.

“You can’t just roll it on stage because of the huge doors, so this pyramid thing has to be folded. Then these two guys are sitting or standing on their spots, being rolled onto stage. Then the pyramids are being folded up and then we start.”
Reflecting on their staging choice, he added: “We’re a rock band, so we wanted to have this rock band feeling. It still needs to be us.
“For us the most important thing is to be authentic in everything we do,” adding: “I wanted these guys [at the back] to be really seen and if you go with heights and to clarify that Lord of the Lost – I’m not the Lord of the lost, it’s all five of us. It gives you a very nice picture.
“We have a really great Creative Director – Marvin from Austria – who is doing nine acts this year and working with him is just a delight.”
The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will be broadcast live from Liverpool on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds. Semi-Final 1 is broadcast Tuesday 9 May at 8pm, Semi-Final 2 is broadcast Thursday 11 May at 8pm, and the Grand Final is broadcast on Saturday 13 May at 8pm.
