Former Disney star Hilary Duff admits that she is 'unemployed'

A former Disney child star has declared herself “unemployed” in a social media post.

Hilary Duff, 35, made the proclamation on Instagram Stories but seemed to be enjoying her out-of-work status as she posed under a blue sky with a tennis racquet.

The American actress shot to prominence at the turn of the century when she played the title role, as a teenager, in Disney Channel comedy Lizzie McGuire from 2001 to 2004.

She also starred in the Lizzie McGuire film during that period, whilst her other movie credits include roles in Agent Cody Banks, Cheaper by the Dozen and The Cinderella Story.

Hilary’s last film was The Haunting of Sharon Tate in 2019 when she played the title role and was also the executive producer.

The horror thriller was panned by critics and Hilary won the Worst Actress category at the 2020 Golden Raspberry Awards for her performance in the flop flick.

Seven-time Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards winner Hilary also enjoyed a 13-year career as a singer but the last of her five studio albums was in 2015.

TV has continued to prove the medium with the greatest longevity for the mum-of-three’s talent and she is currently featuring in and producing the second season of American sitcom How I Met Your Father, playing the lead role of Sophie Tompkins.

It is being shown on Hulu – the American US streaming service that is majority-owned by The Walt Disney Company.

But the series finale was shot in front of a live audience last week, which might explain her social media post.

The “unemployed” comments come after Hilary also shared her health concerns on social media last month, posting a picture and stating that she feared her “lip would explode” after suffering from a nasty scallop allergy.

She also uploaded further shots of a skin condition, which she revealed had been caused by pregnancy.
