Friends fans left stunned as they discover a ‘secret’ glitch on set of the show

Fans of the hit sitcom Friends have discovered a “secret” glitch on the legendary show.

Friends as a TV programme ran for ten seasons and spanned over a decade, launching the careers of its main actors including Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox.

But even though the show’s original run ended in 2004, eagle-eyed fans are continuing to find more Easter eggs in several episodes.

In particular, one attentive viewer caught a still from the first instalment of the show’s tenth season when they noticed something strange.

In one scene, Ross, played by David Schwimmer, bursts into his flat when he sees Joey, played by Matt LeBlanc kissing a girl.

But the fan was not so much paying attention to the kiss, but was instead looking at the set of the show.

The woman found what looked like a hole in the wall of the apartment that had not been there before, leaving her bemused.

Initially confused by what she saw, she posted the pic to a Facebook group for fans of the sitcom with the caption: “Just a random opening in the wall leading to the hallway,” followed by a shrugging emoji.

But it was not long before other fans of the show were perplexed by what they were seeing.

One user believed the hole to be “a mirror with the reflection of the bedroom door”, with many fans backing up this theory.

But others insisted the hole was caused in a separate storyline in the ninth season of the sitcom after Monica, played by Courteney Cox, tried to find out what a switch in their apartment next door led to.

However, the most common theory from fans for the hole in the wall was that it served as a hole for a camera to fit in to film the show.

One fan wrote and declared: “Modern TVs are all wide-screen but the ratio used to be narrower so that wouldn’t have been in the shot”.

A second person agreed, attaching a separate still of Joey walking into the apartment from the episode and writing: “Just a hole for the cameras to use to film different angles, wouldn’t have been seen then though as TVs are wider screens now”.

In previous series, the hole in the wall would have been covered by various decorations, including a pinboard and a series of photos of the main characters.
