A Good Morning Britain crew member was forced to step in and help a government minister minutes before his live interview.
Secretary of State for Transport Mark Harper appeared on Tuesday’s (March21) edition of the ITV breakfast show.
Susanna Reid and Ed Balls welcomed the MP onto the programme but first had to double check he was ready.

Susanna kicked off the chat saying: “A very good morning to you Mr Harper.
“We’re just double checking we’ve got your microphone in position and earpiece in place.”
A blonde lady could be seen walking into view of the camera and started sorting Mr Harper’s microphone and earpiece.
“Do whatever you need to do,” he told the GMB crew member.
Watching on screen, Susanna pointed out: “Well done to the staff member. I’m not sure who that is but think you very much indeed.”
“Starring role,” Ed added.
Mr Harper informed Susanna and Ed: “She’s now dashed away very quickly.”
Ed joked: “She bring on your water and towels like Elvis Presley.
Susanna continued: “Well it’s vital you can hear what we’re saying because, of course, the issues this morning are very serious and thank you very much indeed to our technical crew there in Westminister.”
After a chaotic start, things turned tense as Susanna quizzed Mr Harper on the damning report into the culture and standards of the Metropolitan Police as well as the recent rail strikes.
While Mr Harper made claims such as the number of police officers in the force increasing over a period of time, Susanna managed to find figures to counteract his statement.
As the tense chat ended, viewers praised Susanna on her interviewing skills on social media.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Put him on the spot there #GMB.”
Another added: “I’ve just watched Mark Harper take a beating from Susannah Reid on #GMB while simultaneously hearing him getting a pasting from Nick Robinson on #r4today, which is a tad weird.
A third person posted: “Can someone at #GMB please clip up @susannareid100 ripping the Transport Secretary a new a***ehole re London policing numbers. Thank you”
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 6am
