GMB’s Ben Shephard shuts down co-star Susanna Reid as she makes ‘quickie’ quip

Good Morning Britain star Ben Shephard was keen to move on as Susanna Reid asked for his view on “scrubbing down” before getting intimate.

The duo teamed up for Thursday’s (October 12) instalment of the ITV programme, sharing the latest headlines with viewers across the country. This included the latest infestation of bed bugs which are a major issue in France.

The bed bug plague has seen families in Marseille dump their infested mattresses out on the streets in a bid to rid themselves of the blood-feeding pests. Videos have also also emerged on social media showing the pests crawling all over trains and buses in Paris as residents have been cautioned to watch out.

The Tipping Point presenter, 48, told viewers: “There are bed hopping bed bugs out there. France particularly are struggling. With that being the case, should you and your partner scrub up before getting down to romance?”

A baffled Susanna responded: “What? In case they’ve just come on the Eurostar and they might be covered in the blood sucking mites?

“So your partner pops in the front door and they go, ‘Ah, so good to see you’ and they lean in.” Putting her hands up in front of her body, the 52-year-old continued: “Then you go, ‘You need to have a full on scrub down’?”

“Have a quick wet wipe before you go and get busy,” declared Ben as Susanna quipped: “Before we have a quickie.” Kate Garraway could be heard giggling off camera as Ben was quick to question what she was laughing at.

“It’s an extraordinary variety this morning isn’t it?” the 56-year-old laughed. There was an awkward silence as Ben revealed they would be debating that topic in full later on in the show.

The debate was in full swing later on in the programme

He insisted on getting the news, travel and weather, but Susanna was insistent on gaining Ben’s opinion. “What’s your view?” she asked. The dad-of-two politely shut her down as he responded: “My view is that we’re going to get the local news first.”

The conversation returned later on in the programme, with presenter Ellie Phillips and blogger Carla Bellucci appearing in the studio to debate the topic. Susanna was well-immersed in the debate, however Ben managed to refrain from giving his view.
