Hairy Bikes icon Dave Myers has returned to work despite an ongoing fight against cancer.
In a testament to his resilience, the 65-year-old hasn’t let the diagnosis break him and instead has started a sauerkraut diet, featuring fermented cabbage and other gut-friendly grub, which has had an incredibly positive impact on his immune system.
And it goes without saying that the TV chef is delighted to be back doing what he does best — cooking food for our enjoyment.

Talking to The Mirror, Dave said: “It’s unbelievable to be back. Every breath I take now is just refreshing and fabulous. It varies really what food I’ve been having.”
He continued: “At some stage, I need to put weight on, but I need things to boost my immune system.
“So I’ve been eating a lot of sauerkraut. It really works for me – sauerkraut, kimchi and meatballs. I live by it. It’s a probiotic and good for the immune system, and keeps you regular. I love it. It’s the healthy eating that does it.”
After a restricted appetite due to chemotherapy, luckily, Dave is now officially on the road to recovery. And while the treatment made him lose his hair and beloved beard, he never lost his positive spirit.
On May 11, alongside co-star, Si King, the national treasure made an appearance at The annual Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards, where they were named Personalities of the Year.
Now, he says: “We got back filming this week, a new TV series, and it is a huge step back to normality and winning an award. I got diagnosed last March, so it’s been over a year.
“It’s a work in progress, and it’s all going the right way. I’m getting there and I’m back on the bike.”
A matter of weeks ago, Dave made his eagerly-anticipated return to This Morning, rustling up some scrumptious-looking lamb koftas, complimented with a wholemeal couscous salad and lemon and tahini dressing.
And to further solidify his comeback, Dave and his pal Si, are ready to get the wheels turning on the promotion of their new cookbook, ‘The Hairy Dieters’ Eat Well Every Day’.
Dave said: “I’m so proud of it’.
Simon added: “This is a special book this; hope you enjoy it!”
