Happy Mondays legend Bez has revealed how nobody understands him when he’s abroad – with many refusing to believe he’s even speaking English.
The 59-year-old, real name Mark Berry, was born in Bolton and grew up Salford, but now lives in sleepy Herefordshire with wife Firouzeh.

The maraca player – who starred in Celebrity Big Brother and Dancing on Ice – said his Manc accent was so strong that some folk didn’t believe he was speaking English.
He said some of the people he met on holiday, including in France, Spain, Portugal and Morocco, even demanded to see his passport as proof of where he was born.
He said: “I was often asked to get my passport out to prove I was English, because no one could understand a word I was saying.”
He also revealed that when he was 19 he left the UK to go travelling, heading to Morocco before hitchhiking across Europe.
He said that when he was in Cannes he met two rich French girls – one the daughter of a judge – and ended up driving around the seaside city in a Porsche and living in a penthouse.
Bez said: “One morning I woke up on the beach opposite two ballerinas sitting on a wall.
“I went from beach bum to resident at one of the top apartment blocks in Cannes owned by the dad of one of the girls, a Parisian judge, and driving around in a Porsche 944.”
Bez is going to be doing some more travelling soon too, so his accent could cause a little more trouble down the road.
The TV legend confirmed last month that he was going on tour in Australia and New Zealand in October after finishing his tour across the UK this summer.
