Huw Edwards could be about to follow in the footsteps of Piers Morgan’s and join a ‘non traditional channel’.
The 61-year-old broadcaster was revealed as the BBC star accused of paying a teenager thousands of pounds for sexually explicit photos earlier this month.
His wife, Vicky Flind, named him in a lengthy statement and confirmed that he’s currently in hospital suffering from “serious mental health issues” and will remain where he will stay for the “foreseeable future”.

Since the news came to light, fans have questioned whether it is right for Huw to return his position – with many agreeing that he should be able to, provided he’s cleared of any “serious wrongdoing”.
According to a recent poll orchestrated by Daily Mirror readers were asked about the prospect of Huw’s return and 53 percent of people said they wanted to see the presenter back on the BBC News at Ten again.
Speaking about Huw’s potential return to television, Culture and brand expert Rochelle White, from Rochelle White Agency, told Daily Star: “Depending on his health, I feel that this could be a good time for him to really think about and strategic plan his next move.
“He could retire from broadcasting or if he still wanted to continue, he could take a leaf out of other journalists books like Piers Morgan and have a presence and show on non tradition channels like YouTube.
“I think it would be wise to lay low for a while and be clear if there is a comeback what that could look like and approach with caution.
“He needs to be prepared for any backlash that could also come with it and it would be wise to have a strong team to support on this also.”
Piers famously moved to TalkTV after leaving Good Morning Britain in March 2021 following a disagreement about Meghan Markle.
He stormed off the set following a debate with weatherman Alex Beresford about the Duchess of Sussex and her controversial Oprah Winfrey interview.
