Neighbours is back and cast members have been keeping storylines top secret by using code names at hotels and hosting meetings in dark corners of bars.
TV producer and director Lee Salisbury has opened up about working on the reboot of the Australian soap opera days after the show returned to Amazon Freevee. Fans have been left on the edge of their seats as Ramsay Street residents are faced with drama.
In recent scenes, Jane Harris (Annie Jones) and Mike Young (Guy Pearce) headed to the UK and she showed him the UK sights since she and her kids had lived there for years. Meanwhile, talking in private, Sam (Henrietta Graham) asked her dad if he was still going to “do it”, to which Mike assured her that he had a plan. But what is he up to?

Speaking to Daily Star, Lee said: “I directed the scenes with Annie and Guy. We filmed in Surrey where a private house became the setting for a countryside hotel. We filmed for several days all two hander scenes. I was such a huge Neighbours fan so was amazing to reminisce about the old days with them both.
“I love the fact the OGs including Jason [Donovan]and Kylie [Minogue] are all in contact with each other and still really good friends. We had to film in top secret with the actors having code names at our actual hotel script meetings were in dark corners of the bar.”
Lee is the host of the Soap From The Box podcast which has over 90 episodes to listen to with the biggest stars of soap, TV and music. He said: “Neighbours stars that people can listen to right now include Stefan Dennis, Ian Smith, Matt Wilson, Rebekah Elmaloglou, Alan Fletcher and Tim Kano.
“There is also a brand new episode where Sheree Murphy who played a guest role in the show talks to me about more behind the scenes stories of the shoot.” In a new trailer, Neighbours has teased that it won’t be a harmonious trip for Mike and Jane. “There’s a part of me that keeps wondering whether something’s gonna go wrong,” Mike says. Is he talking about his secret plan, or his entire relationship?
There may be bigger problems, though, with Jane declaring: “I have been keeping something from you.” What is Jane hiding, and will it have the power to make or break things with Mike? And, amid Jane’s confession, will Mike get to do what he intends to? “Be here with me in the moment and see what happens,” he’s seen urging Jane.
The drama looks to come to a head when Jane exclaims: “Mike, you are not listening to me!” Then Mike rushes towards Jane with some urgency – but what is going on here? Will Jane and Mike stay together?
New Neighbours episodes drop Monday to Thursday on Amazon Freevee from 7am
