If you want to achieve the perfect look, it’s time to ditch the lie-ins, stick on some Huey Lewis and get stuck into a gruelling morning routine.
At least, that’s what one bloke thought when he decided to test out Patrick Bateman’s intense morning routine from American Psycho for one week to “look more attractive”.
Anyone who’s seen the 2000 crime thriller will know all too well that Christian Bale’s character is a psychotic sociopath striving for perfection.

In the movie, the 27-year-old investment banker has a glowing complexion and healthy bank balance, but leaves behind a hefty body count.
Bale allegedly went method for the role and did the very same routine every morning in preparation for his role as Bateman.
Inspired by Bateman’s mantra of “you can always be thinner, look better”, YouTuber Michael Hoover tried the meticulous routine for one week and was left looking unrecognisable.
Chasing the star’s chiselled abs and flawless skin, Michael started his day by icing his whole face to “reduce inflammation and help get rid of acne”.
After the frosty facial comes 1,000 stomach crunches to burn away belly fat.
And if you hadn’t already crawled back to bed in agony, Michael proceeded to take on a yoga-inspired stretching routine before hopping in the shower.
Finally, the YouTuber indulged in an expensive-looking skincare routine to ensure a blemish-free complexion.
After one week of the “rigorous regime”, Michael claimed that his acne “was gone” and his skin is seen looking visibly more clear.
And while viewers were impressed by Michael’s commitment to the routine, some argued that washing your face isn’t a well-hidden secret.
One person commented: “Home boy literally just discovered washing your face in the morning.”
A second added: “Bro had to learn basic hygiene from a movie about a sociopath.”
Another wrote: “People finding out they can shower and exercise from a serial killer.”
A fourth joked: “I tried Bateman’s night routine and ended up in jail.”
