I’m A Celebrity South Africa has been hit with complaints by angry viewers over the show’s “pointless” and “strange” shake-up.
The new spin-off show, hosted by telly legends Ant and Dec, kicked off with a bang on Monday (April 24) as past contestants returned once again to the show.
However, unlike the OG series, I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! this all stars version is not live and was filmed last year.

What’s more, instead of the general public voting for their favourite, or least favourite, celeb to take part in the brutal trials, the celebrities are chosen already.
And in Tuesday’s episode (April 25) fans were treated to the show’s first eating trial – which saw Jordan Banjo and Janice Dickinson put their taste buds to the test to eat a series of repulsive meals to win stars for the camp.
But plenty of viewers watching the show at home were left fuming that they are unable to decide who gets to compete in the trials.
“The only problem I’m having with I’m A Celeb is we can’t vote for trials,” said one person.
Echoing their thoughts, another viewer proclaimed: “This would be much better if it wasn’t pre-recorded and we could vote was super excited for this series but bit pointless when we can’t vote not sure I like it!!”
“I’m confused on how the I’m a celeb trials work do the producers just pick cos obviously it’s not live so we aren’t voting like usual,” pondered a third person.
Someone else agreed: “Strange without the vote.”
A fifth viewer also took issue with the show airing in April, with it usually being on in December.
They raged: “Watching I’m A Celeb in April feels so wrong I’m convincing myself it’s the countdown to Christmas and it’s currently November.”
During the first eating trial of the series, Jordan was tasked with eating pigs anus, as well as various other animal genitalia including penis, vagina, vulva and internal organs such as the heart, intestines, and lungs.
When Janice first took part on the show back in 2007, the supermodel refused to take part in the horrific eating contests.
But this time, the brunette beauty, 68, managed to complete three courses and took home three stars to camp.
Despite at first showing some resilience to the challenge, the pair exceeded expectations and managed to bring home a total of five stars for camp.
