I’m A Celeb’s Jake Quickenden eyes up Strictly but says producers have snubbed him

Reality star Jake Quickenden has confessed that he would love to participate in BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing but he has never been asked.

The 34-year-old, who has appeared on popular ITV shows such as I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! Dancing on Ice and The X Factor said he remains hopeful that show producers will call him for Strictly next.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Jake said: “Yeah I would love to do Strictly, for me it’s one of the big ones that I haven’t done!”

“I don’t know if I could do it this year because I’m going on tour in August for something else, I can’t really say what it is.”

He continued: “But I never got asked so I thought I might as well fill my time, you know what I mean.”

“But yeah it is one that I would kind of love to do, I’ve got my eye on it because for me I love competition and I love stepping outside my comfort zone.

Comparing Strictly to his Dancing on Ice win in 2018, Jake said Strictly would allow him to learn a completely new skill.

He said: “It’s something that I would love to learn to dance!

“People are like ‘oh, you won Dancing on Ice’ but it’s like you skate you know what I mean.

“It’s nothing to do with dancing, all I did was lift somebody above my head!”

He added: “It’s pretty tough but it’s not dancing dancing.”

Speaking positively about the hope of appearing on the BBC programme, he said: “It would be nice to actually learn to dance properly, but if it comes around, it comes around, if it doesn’t, it doesn’t.

“Everything is it’s meant to be, if I get asked, I get asked!”

Although the TV personality is keen to appear on the dance show and hopefully be crowned Strictly winner, Jake recently left fans stunned when he announced that he’s preparing to make his professional MMA debut later this year.

Jake has agreed to undergo a rigorous year of training before squaring off against comedian Paul Smith, who is also new to the sport.

The fight is set to take place in the OKTAGON cage this November.

Talking to TalkSport about his new venture he said: “I’ve always been a huge fan of Mixed Martial Arts… I love sports. I love testing myself. For me, it was just about that growth, doing something new, stepping outside your comfort zone, and doing something scary.

“I don’t feel like you can really grow as a person without doing something that tests you.”
