Margot Robbie fans are eagerly waiting to see the actress’ highly-anticipated performance in the upcoming Barbie film, which is due to be released next month.
But while shots of Margot’s feet in the trailers have been driving people wild, they might not be hers at all — with a young actress revealing she was tasked with stepping into Margot’s shoes as her body double.
Emma Eastwood was initially dropped as an extra from the film but was ecstatic when her first-ever acting gig saw her land the “iconic” role of Margot’s double in July 2022.

The 26-year-old, who was born in San Francisco, California, claims she looks so much like the Wolf of Wall Street star that Margot herself was “stunned” and even mistook her for her own reflection.
Explaining how being Margot’s body double worked, Emma said: “I featured in scenes where Barbie wasn’t the focus of the shot.
“For example, where her dialogue had already been filmed and so it was just the back of my head or me stepping into shoes and walking up and down stairs.
“All of the things that they didn’t need Margot’s face for.”
While filming she had to wear all the same costumes as Margot but admitted it wasn’t an easy gig fitting into them.
She said: “It was very stressful because me being her double relied on how well the costume fit me.
“We were filming in the heatwave last summer and I was so hot and sweating and I had to put on this denim jumpsuit – thankfully it fit.
“I wore all the same costumes as Margot so I had to fit in them exactly.
“It was interesting because we filled out the costumes differently. Where it was tight on me it was loose on her and where it was tight on her it was loose on me so this worried me as I thought I might get cut, but luckily I didn’t and got to be Barbie’s double.”
Emma, who now lives in Sheperd’s Bush, ran into Margot several times whilst shooting at the Warner Bros. Studio in London.
The young actress said when the pair bumped into each other Margot joked she’d run into herself.
“The first time I met her she was lovely and I almost cried. I only chatted to her once for about five minutes because the rest of the time we were working,” she said.
She added: “When I did speak to her, I was coming on to set and there was a heavy door that I was struggling to open. When I got through, it swung open and Margot Robbie was coming off set on the other side.
“We ran into each other and we were so startled. She said to me ‘Oh I’ve never ran into myself before’ and I literally had to grab onto a wall. I was so shocked to see her. I hadn’t prepared myself for this.”
Emma played Margot so convincingly that the actress didn’t even realise it wasn’t her in some of the shots.
“She had watched some of the footage back and was like ‘wow it looks great but I don’t remember filming this’ and the director had to be like ‘Margot that’s not you,'” Emma said.
“She said she felt like she was looking in a mirror, which was crazy.”
But it’s not just Margot who thinks the pair look alike, with Emma claiming men would attempt to “flirt” with her by telling her she looked like the Suicide Squad star even before she landed the role.
She said: “I’ve had people tell me in the past I look like her but have never believed them.
“It was mostly men as it was their way of flirting and I guess it kind of worked.
“Normally I would mention that I loved Margot Robbie and that’s when they would say I look like her. It was their way of flirting.”
Now even her friends are comparing her to Margot.
“My friends will introduce me as Barbie or Margot. When they say Barbie, I think people just think it’s because I’m blonde but Margot confuses people.
“I tend to not bring it up myself [about me being Barbie’s body double] but if people bring it up, I definitely speak about it.”
Emma hopes she’ll be able to continue working with Margot in the future.
“On set, I really wanted to impress Margot to hope that she would ask me to be her double forever – this would be a gig of a lifetime,” she said.
But despite being able to meet Margot during the two weeks she spent on set, Emma didn’t get to see Ryan Gosling and is still waiting to meet “her” Ken.
She added: “I didn’t get to meet Ryan Gosling and I’m kind of glad because I don’t think I would have been very chilled.
“I spent a lot of time with Kate McKinnon and met America Ferrera briefly. Everyone was really lovely.
“I appreciate how big of an icon Barbie is and am extremely excited to be a part of it. I sometimes forget I actually played Barbie – it’s crazy.”
