Huw Edwards has been named as the presenter accused of paying a teenager tens of thousands of pounds for sexually explicit images.
The 61-year-old has been suspended by the BBC while its investigation continues.
Huw is married to TV producer wife Vicky Flind and the couple share five children, with Vicky releasing a statement on Huw’s behalf confirming he was the presenter in question.

In her statement on Wednesday (July 12), Vicky admitted she and the family were ‘concerned’ for Huw’s mental wellbeing and is being treated in hospital.
Huw and Vicky are parents to sons Dan, Sammy and Amos as well as daughters Hannah and Rebecca.
Huw tends to keep his family life out of the spotlight but he has opened up about his home life in the past, revealing he was a stricter parent to his older children.
He told The Guardian: “There’s a principle that your youngest child gets a far better crack of the whip than your eldest.
“All your anxieties and inexperience and cluelessness as a parent are taken out on your eldest child.
“By the time you get to your youngest, in my case number five, you’re a brilliant parent.
“So if you could give a parent all the patience and knowledge that they would have with their second or third child or whatever to the first, that’s the one piece of advice I’d give.”
Huw has also previously shared that his family mainly speak English at home.
Speaking to Wales Online, he explained: “For the most part English is the main language because my wife doesn’t speak Welsh.
“I was able to concentrate a lot of time on my eldest two children who have got a good level of understanding in Welsh but the others less so.
“Three of my sons are linguists actually and I’ve got a daughter who is a linguist.
“Their facility to speak, pronounce and understand, it’s quite good but what you won’t get is a fluent conversation.”
Huw said at the time that his children are close to his mother, who lives in Llanelli, South Wales, and are aware his father was a big figure in the Welsh language culture.
His dad, Hywel Teifi Edwards, was a Plaid Cymru and Welsh language activist and an author and academic, who was Research Professor of Welsh-language Literature at University College, Swansea.
Huw has previously shared how much his mum, Aerona, and wife Vicky had helped him after he put on weight following his dad’s death.
He told The Times: “By 2016, 2017, I had put on a lot of weight. I felt dreadful. I mean, physically.”
“I was 16½st. I thought, ‘Oh my God.’ And then my mum said, ‘Oh well, you know, your dad weighed 16½st’ and I really thought, ‘Oh my God.’
“That started to ring alarm bells. So I got back to London.”
Huw continued: “I hate running, I hate swimming, but Vicky said, ‘Oh, I’ve seen there’s a boxing gym in Herne Hill.
“‘I’ve actually been in to see the trainer,’ Huw added..
“I said, ‘You’re crackers. I’m not boxing.’ Punching people. It’s not me.”
Huw did give it a go and managed to lose three stone.
