Emmerdale fans have blasted Belle Dingle’s (Eden Taylor Draper) decision to call on Dancing on Ice legends to help with her lavish wedding proposal.
Earlier this week, Belle was given food for thought when Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) pushed her to give the proposal another go but she’s scuppered yet again when Sam Dingle (James Hotton) dragged her away for a birthday surprise.
However, With Leyla Harding’s (Roxy Shahidi) help, Belle formed a new plan during Thursday’s (December 28) episode. A blindfolded Tom King Jr (James Chase) got led onto an ice rink by Leyla and he was left mesmerised when he learned that his girlfriend had arranged a proposal with the help of Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

Belle was elated when Tom said yes and As the Olympic champions skated over, Tom had his fanboy moment and asked the pair for a selfie. Fans watching at home couldn’t help but share their opinion on the proposal on social media. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “That made me cringe what just happened?” A second added: “This is cringe and dire.”
A third person wrote: “That has to be one of the most cringey thing I’ve ever seen!” Someone else said: “Torvill & Dean Boleroing. How cringey is that?” A fifth social media user agreed: “Could Emmerdale get any more ridiculous? Don’t tell me. Jane and Chris are long lost Dingles.” A sixth fan: “So much cheese. Another added:”Tom being a fanboy of Torvill and Dean just feels so random
It was confirmed last month that Torvill and Dean would be appearing in Emmerdale. Speaking about filming the scenes at the time, Christopher said it was “amazing” being there and that he was having a blast. “We have jumped from watching Emmerdale on TV to being in a scene,” he said. “From the screen to the scene.” “I’m loving it,” he went on.
Jayne added that she was looking forward to switching on the television and seeing them in the soap. “I can’t wait to watch the episode that we are going to be in. It will be surreal sitting at home watching it.” Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw added: “We are delighted to welcome Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean as our very special guests to Emmerdale. Torvill and Dean certainly promise to bring the Christmas magic sparkle to the show.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
