Fans have slammed I’m A Celebrity hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly after they unveiled a major rule about camp that viewers had no idea about.
It came following a huge backlash after YouTuber Nella Rose was picked to become the camp leader. As part of her duties of distributing roles, she chose This Morning host Josie Gibson to become the camp chef.
This came as a big shock to the campmates, as fellow campmate and First Dates star Fred Sirieix had already been a keen cook, showing off his skills whilst taking part in the ITV show. A well-trained chef, Fred’s snub triggered massive amounts of hate for the 26-year-old Internet star.

But now, hosts Ant and Dec have revealed that there was one rule in place during the contestants’ time in camp that had not been explained. The pair admitted that there is a rule that no campmate can do the same chore more than once.
This, as a result, meant that Nella would not be able to pick Fred for the job. And if she had chosen Fred to become the chef once again, she would be breaking the rules and eventually be punished.
Fans of the show have since taken to social media to vent their frustrations as they blasted the show for not making the in-camp rule clearer. Many also felt bad for Nella, who had been hit with hate over something she could not control.
One fan wrote in anger: “Soooo convenient that Ant and Dec mention that the celebs can’t do the same chore twice and not when Nella was elected and got a lot of hate for it.” A second user added: “Glad they mentioned you can’t do the same chore twice before some people call Danielle/Josie ‘bullies’ for not putting Fred on cooking.”
Whilst a third viewer fumed: “So I’m A Celeb now confirm that you can’t be given the same chore twice, but waited until Nella was out and got all the hate for not making Fred chef. But she wasn’t allowed.”
The debacle comes after maitre d’ Fred was stunned over Josie’s cooking in the camp. But Ant and Dec were quick to jump to Fred’s defence whilst speaking to fans on a livestream as part of the pair’s Jungle Club.
The Geordie pair then went on to admit that a lot more was going on in camp than what viewers were being shown. They also revealed that cooking and meal preparation actually took a lot longer than people usually see.
Dec, 48, believed that it would take the camp on average around three to four hours to make a meal. Ant responded: “That’s four hours [being told in my ear]. That was too long, if she listened to Fred she could have kept the bone to have as stock tomorrow.”
I’m A Celebrity airs nightly at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
