ITV I’m A Celebrity’s Grace Dent quits show on medical grounds after sparking concern

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star Grace Dent has become the first celebrity to leave the jungle.

Her exit follows concerns for her health after appearing pale and withdrawn on Sunday night’s show after telling the camera “I just want to go home”. Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly informed her on Sunday that she had been picked by the public to do the latest trial Down The Tubes.

After barely reacting and keeping to herself while the duo were in the camp, concerns started to arise from the public, and she later quit the show. A show spokesperson confirmed: “Unfortunately Grace Dent has left the show on medical grounds. She has been a great campmate and will be missed by her fellow celebrities and viewers alike.”

People have since shared their support for Grace online for putting her health first. One user wrote: “Grace was a queen before she went in I’m A Celeb, she doesn’t need the jungle to prove that. Get well soon.”

While another said: “Grace Dent hasn’t looked well for a few days and it was clear last night when she was chosen for the trial that it was going to be the last straw. I’m glad she has prioritised herself.”

A third wrote: “Sorry to hear Grace Dent has left I’m A Celeb. She did not look at all well yesterday and showed very little emotion when voted to do a trial. Hope she’s okay.”

Grace admitted before the series began that eating and food would be the hardest part for her. She said: “Everything is filling me with a real sense of dread, but I am especially dreading being really hungry because I tend to eat four or five posh meals out a week because I am a restaurant critic.”

Speaking at Brisbane airport on arrival on November 14, Grace also revealed she had been dining out and eating well. She said: “My flight was amazing, I feel very well rested. I’ve eaten very well.

“I’ve been stocking up on delicious tastes because I’m wondering when I’m gonna taste them again. I think it’s going to be a real challenge.

“For the last week I’ve been eating in the most wonderful restaurants in London, you know, five course dinners, all the wonderful foods that London offers. So, I think it’s maybe gonna be a bit of a shock to my system.”

Prior to her exit, Grace had said she’d “had enough” and wanted to g home after the Touchdown of Terror trial. Although she was encouraged by her co-star Josie Gibson, it didn’t win her over.

Grace later said in the Bush Telegraph: “I haven’t got a lot left in me at the moment. I’m just keeping on a face for everybody.”

She sparked concern after the trial and even more so after Ant and Dec confirmed she would be doing another, with comments flooding through on X, formerly Twitter, last night with one user writing: “Is Grace Dent ok? She looks ill, I think.” While another wrote: “They should pull Grace Dent out, she looks really ill.”

Another had said: “”Grace looks like she’s on the edge of a breakdown, she looks ill.” While a fourth wrote: “She looks majorly malnourished.”

Others said they were “worried” about her because of how unwell she was looking and begged for ITV to intervene.

I’m A Celeb will continue tonight on ITV1 and ITVX at 9pm.
