The Chase quizmaster Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis has taken to X to issue a statement after a “terrible” episode.
The Irish star was tasked with taking on a team of four hopefuls all vying to bring home a huge sum of cash in a trivia matchup. Despite knocking out one of the players during gameplay, the determined team managed to bring £18k to the final chase.
A confident Darragh was given an “easy” target of just 14 after a poor performance from the team, but after several wrong answers he was left high and dry after being unable to catch the usually easy target. “You ever have one of those days? Terrible from me there,” said Darragh to fans on X just minutes after the episode aired.

And some fans agreed. One penned: “14 is the lowest target that Darragh has lost to in the final.” Another echoed: “I’m old enough to remember when Darragh was good – what the fu** happened there, beaten by 14 ffs!…” while a third penned: “Darragh should be ashamed of that! 14 and a team win.”
Host Bradley Walsh was clearly disappointed too at the end of the show. He admitted it was big failure from his Chaser, who is always quick to respond to fans and own up to his defeats.
But not everyone was so unforgiving. Many leaped to his defense in the comments. “Nah…we are only human… all the Chasers can’t be perfect. A good Show,” gushed one fan.

“You can’t win them all Darragh called a off day,” penned another reassuringly, as a third said: “Yep! Happens to all of us, Darragh.” Darragh recently spoke out about his rold on the show, saying it’s only a tiny part of his life.
The Chaser reckons his other job away from the TV cameras is way more challenging. Darragh juggles his ITV The Chase and Beat the Chasers work with being an neuroscientist and entomologist.

Darragh told Express: “The chase is only a tiny part of my work life, I spend more time working on my other job as a scientist way more. “So the end of the week I will be in the lab, so that is way more difficult to balance, my second job is more challenging than that. So yeah I just make time for it whenever I can, this is my side gig, I make time for this.”
