ITV’s This Morning in chaos as host walks off set after ‘controversial’ chip debate

This Morning was thrown into a spot of chaos on Thursday (April 13) after co-host Craig Doyle jokingly walked off the set following a chip debate.

The hit ITV show was back on TV screens on Thursday with Josie Gibson and Craig fronting the latest episode.

The ITV favourites have been hosting the show for the past week – and viewers can’t get enough of the duo.

However, during the first discussion of the day with show regulars Nick Ferrari and Tom Swarbrick, the conversation soon turned to the topic of the current frozen chip shortage.

Josie and Craig were back hosting the ITV show

But things took an awkward turn when Craig confessed something to his co-stars leaving them gasping in shock.

“Can I say something controversial, I don’t particularly like potatoes,” Craig admitted.

To which his co-stars proclaimed: “what?!” while dropping their papers onto the floor.

“Oh my goodness,” Josie then proclaimed, before adding: “How?”

While co-star Tom chimed in and shared his disbelief at his revelation.

Craig playfully walked off the set

Looking down looking slightly embarassed, Craig then got up to shake the hands of his co-stars and then walked off the set.

“It’s been nice knowing you,” Josie joked.

“See you later cheerio, bye,” Craig quipped as he walked off-screen.

“You’ve got to walk off,’ his co-star joked.

Craig eventually came back and sat down next to Josie, brushing off the awkward moment.

Josie was left alone for a brief moment

When asked why he doesn’t like potatoes, Craig said: “I don’t know, chips are fine but I’m not sure.”

On Thursday’s jam-packed show, Craig and Josie spoke to The One show host Alex Jones about her new TV show.

They also chatted to ’90s Britpop band Blur’s Alex James about all things music and reunions.

It’s not the first time Josie and Craig have presented This Morning together. The two appeared during the school summer holidays in 2022, when Craig also hosted alongside Mollie King and Rochelle Humes.
