Fans of This Morning would have been forgiven if they needed to look twice at the set of their favourite ITV daytime show on Tuesday morning (February 7).
That’s because the studio looked rather different from how it normally does after being transformed into an airport departure lounge for a segment hosted by travel presenter Simon Calder.
Hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby looked very excited to show viewers a special part of the set which looked like a cross between an aeroplane and an airport departure lounge.
The eye-catching set had been given a decor overhaul to spruce up its travel segment from Simon, who was on hand to tell viewers about the best summer holiday deals.
The new corner of set boasted a row of comfy-looking blue aeroplane seats and spherical windows which made it seem like host Simon was travelling on a long-haul flight.
It was just a minute into the show when Phil and Holly gave way to a booming announcement sounded like it was being recorded over a tannoy.
Phil said: “Welcome to your Tuesday This Morning. Here’s what we’ve got coming up on the show today.”
“All passengers on our This Morning airwaves flight, please make your way to the departure gate as we are about to begin boarding.”
Holly excitedly cried: “I love that! I wish that was true,” as Phil said: “We’re taking a trip!”
Phil got into character when he pointed out: “Look, look, look! He’s burst out to do the drinks. You’ll find some huge bargains. Simon Calder is here to reveal the best summer holiday deals.”
Mr Schofield teased Simon as he asked him: “Are you looking for your seat or are you serving drinks?”
Simon replied: “No, I’m bringing you, Phil, the best bargains I possibly can. I can’t promise you quite as much luxury leg room on your next flight but I’ve spent the last 24 hours finding the best summer deals I possibly can, so you’ve got something to look forward to with all this cold weather and freezing fog.”
