Jimmy Carr fears AI could wipe out humanity and people need to take threat ‘seriously’

Jimmy Carr fears AI could wipe out humanity and reckons folk are not taking the threat seriously enough.

The comedian, 51, is concerned we could be destroyed by psycho Terminator bots after reading Toby Ord’s book The Precipice.

It claims there is a one in 10 chance AI could destroy us in the next 100 years, and is more worrying than climate change.

Jimmy said: “The climate crisis is on the list, he goes, ‘Yeah it’s bad but it won’t wipe us out, it won’t wipe out humanity, AI could wipe out humanity’.”

He said he doesn’t think nuclear weapons could make humans extinct but fears they would devastate the population. The funnyman also believes society is full of woke activists who don’t understand why Britain previously fought in wars.

Carr believes if Britain was faced with a similar threat to 1939, before it declared war on Nazi Germany, some people would want the nation to make peace with Hitler.

He said: “I think we’ve kind of slightly lost our stomach for what had to be done then. It does strike me that we’ve lost history.

“If you don’t really understand what happened it’s very difficult to only judge it by today’s standards. If we had to step to the Nazis today, would people be calling for peace? Or would they go, ‘We’ve got to absolutely wipe them out’.”
