Kate Garraway flooded with support as she pulls out of GMB after husband’s heartbreaking update

Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway has been flooded with love by fans after she posted a heart-breaking update on her husband Derek Draper’s health.

The ITV host, 56, was forced to miss her regular presenting role this week as Derek, who has been suffering from major health problems after contracting COVID-19, was rushed to hospital once again. As a result, Kate has cancelled all her TV and radio work for the foreseeable future as she stays by her husband’s side while he “fights for his life”.

Derek, also 56, was taken to the hospital as he suffered a devastating heart attack. Instead of Kate, who would have been hosting the morning topical news programme, Ranvir Singh filled in for her co-star, presenting the show with Ben Shephard.

A second user also wished Kate and Derek well, commenting: “This is so sad for the Garraway family. Derek’s body has been ravaged and we are just hoping he can get through this.”

Whilst a third person became emotional as they hit out against the numerous health problems that Derek has developed. “So sorry to hear about Kate Garraway’s husband, Derek Draper condition deteriorating,” they said.

Continuing on, they penned: “This family have been through so much. It’s near Christmas and it’s just not fair. Thinking of them and others facing serious illness at this time of year.”

Derek’s condition has been deteriorating rapidly for the past week, with family and friends being informed of the state of his health. Speaking to The Sun, a source close to the couple said that people were hoping for a speedy recovery.

“Everyone is praying for a miracle,” they said. “Derek suffered a massive heart attack earlier this week, which has left him fighting for his life all over again.”

The insider continued: “It was sudden and a shock as he had been doing so well and was in great spirits, looking forward to Christmas at home with the family. This setback has been a huge blow. Kate is by his side 24 hours a day and is willing him on to win this latest battle for his life – she has been utterly incredible.”

Derek has been on the road to recovery after being rushed to hospital, after he developed complications after contracting COVID-19 during the height of the pandemic. His condition became so bad, he fell into a coma and was forced onto a ventilator to keep him alive.
