Kym Marsh’s ex Jack Ryder looks unrecognisable after divorce and career U-turn

Kym Marsh’ ex-husband Jack Ryder looks almost unrecognisable more than 15 years after their divorce.

The former couple first met when shortly after the brunette beauty had won a place in the hit noughties band Hear’Say.

It is understood the duo bumped into each other in the BBC canteen while she was doing Top of the Pops and he was starring as Jamie Mitchell on EastEnders.

And it didn’t take long before sparks were flying because the pair went on to tie the knot just a few years later in 2002.

Unfortunately, there love wasn’t built to last, after they announced their divorce just six years later in 2008.

At the time the actor and director, now 41, was known as the floppy-fringed heartthrob on the BBC One soap for playing ladies’ man Jamie Mitchell.

The star became a poster-boy for the soap when he joined the Square back in 1998, but it’s fair to say he looks worlds away from his baby-faced character more than 20 years on.

Since he left his showbiz lifestyle behind, the former soap star has gone on to write his own children’s books.

As well as becoming a published author, the hunk also runs a mentoring business where he continues to follow his dream of becoming a director.

Occasionally, the dad-of-one will delight fans with a rare snap on social media, proving to fans that he has aged like a fine wine.

His most recent post came this week, as the star held up a peace sign and donned a dark hoodie, while he talked about his weekend plans with his daughter.

Jack captioned the post: “Now, enough of all this acting talk and mentoring business – I’m off to collect my baby girl and spend the weekend watching Button Moon and being jumped on! Have a great one guys!”

Last year, the star appeared on ITV’s Lorraine to talk about his new children’s book after he became a father during lockdown.

He revealed: “She’s doing great, parenting is a mixed bag – as soon as you think you’ve nailed it, something happens. But we’re absolutely relishing being parents.”

Jack also told the beloved Scott that he is still in touch with his former co-stars Natalie Cassidy (who plays Sonia Fowler) and Dean Gaffney (Robbie Jackson).

The star spoke about what it was like dealing with life in the limelight, adding: “The fame side was tough to cope with at that time and at that age, but I just kept my head down and got on with the work.”

Jack now regularly delights fans with adorable snaps of himself, his partner Ella and their one-year-old Marnie.
