Lindsay Lohan struggled when she was first thrust into the limelight as a young adult – and had several run-ins with the law.
First arrested in May 2007 for driving under the influence of alcohol, Lindsay first got away with a 45-day stint in rehab and being fitted with a sobriety monitor.
But after that, she was arrested for another DUI, felony possession of cocaine and driving with a suspended license – and was stopped after engaging in a car chase.

That time, Lindsay was sentenced to just one day behind bars, and attended rehab again for three months. But she ended up serving just 84 minutes of her jail sentence and was eventually released due to overcrowding.
After missing various court dates while on probation, Lindsay was handed a 90-day jail sentence in 2010, and served 14 days before being released.
More sentences followed. In 2011 she was arrested for theft and sentenced to 120 days in jail, which was eventually reduced to 35 days of house arrest. Later that year, a 30-day sentence for not fulfilling community service turned into a five-hour jail stint.
The longest Lohan ever served in jail was 14 days.
Mum devastated
When Lindsay was led away from court in handcuffs in 2010, her parents were left devastated.
Her younger sister Ali was close to tears as she and their mum Dina watched the then 24-year-old being led away, while her father Michael yelled: “We love you, Lindsay!”
Just hours earlier, Lindsay had tweeted: “The only ‘bookings’ that I’m familiar with are Disney Films, never thought that I’d be ‘booking’ into jail, eeeks.”
High-profile pals
Despite her stardom, Lindsay might not have been the most famous prisoner at the time of her prison stint.
In the cell right next to hers was Alexis Neiers, an infamous member of the Hollywood Bling Ring – which had burgled Lindsay’s house just months before, forcing her to flee the property.
Neiers herself was the subject of an E! reality show, Pretty Wild, as well as the later film adaptation of The Bling Ring starring Emma Watson.
MSNBC reported: “Lohan is not expected to have contact with other inmates while she is in jail, but the cells are reportedly close enough that the two women could talk if they wanted to.”
And after Alexis was accused of wearing Lindsay’s stolen jewellery, it seems apt that she offered an apology later on down the line.
Alexis later told E! News: “[Lohan] was crying. I could hear her.
“I could start hearing like what was going on in there, I tried to just, really just keep to myself and the last thing I really want to hear, you know, when you’re trying to be so strong and just get through the day. I mean, the days are so long in there, you’re woken up at 5:30.”
But she was later full of remorse for blabbing about Lindsay’s mental state, telling Vice: “To Lindsay Lohan: I’m so sorry. I should have never done that.
“I regret doing the interview where I spoke about it. It just wasn’t really fair to her. I was still using. Of course she was crying in jail, she’s in f***ing jail.”
Good food
While serving out her sentence at California’s Lynwood jail, Mean Girls star Lindsay was banned from smoking – but was allegedly allowed to spend up to £90 per week on sweets like Hershey bars, KitKats and cupcakes.
The star was assigned her own private cell for protection, and allowed only one hour a day outside of it.
Lindsay’s first meals behind bars included meatballs with spaghetti, spicy turkey tetrazzini with noodles and mushrooms and cream sauce.
She was also allowed access to her prescriptions of Adderall, for ADHD, and sleeping pill Ambien.
Miserable conditions
Throughout her sentence, Lindsay was only allowed to shower every other day, and forced to wear a regulation orange jumpsuit throughout her sentence.
The dark cell measured just 6 feet by 10, and consisted of a toilet, a cot and a concrete floor.
A source told Fox News: “Lindsay is going to go through formal intake, where she will be subject to a full cavity search.
“[Prison officials] will search her – they will lift up her mouth, and her tongue, and then make her take her clothes off and they’ll search her.

“It’s very invasive for the simple fact that people can hide drugs in crevices, and they just have to check to see because that’s how drugs are smuggled into the jail.”
But on her first night, she was reportedly left upset after being “targeted” by a pack of inmates who issued vile threats to the A-lister while taking bets on who could make her cry.
With LiLo locked in her cell for 23 hours a day, a prison source confirmed: “Lindsay is being kept away from other prisoners to keep her safe.
“There’s a lot of violence in female prisons. She was greeted by the screams of lesbian gangs.”
