Liz Hurley's bond with lookalike son – tragic loss, 'soul mates' and sharing clothes

Model and actor Damian Hurley turned 21 on April 4.

The only son of Liz Hurley is not only the spitting image of his stunning mother but is following in her career footsteps, too.

Born in London in 2002, Damian’s dad is the late American millionaire businessman Steve Bing, who sadly passed away back in 2020 after taking his own life.

Bing initially questioned if he was Damian’s dad but the aspiring model has since spoken candidly about the grief of losing his father.

Damian went on to win a lawsuit against Bing’s estate, which meant he will inherit “several million”.

Consequently, Damian grew up with Liz, 57, as a single mum and their closeness and bond – not to mention physical similarities – are phenomenal.

They have described each other as their “soul mates” and share everything from clothes to pals.

As Damian hits his milestone birthday, Daily Star take a look at the lovely but enviably solid relationship he shares with mum.

Damian and Liz share an uncanny resemblance, with the same flowing hair, razor-sharp cheekbones and piercing eyes.

Both are also tall and willowy and Liz has even admitted she borrows his clothes.

Speaking to Extra, the Austin Powers actress explained: “I tend to wear Damian’s cast-offs. His 14-15-year-old trackie bottoms fit me perfectly.”

A few years ago Damian even recreated his mother’s infamous Versace look by donning a fabulous safety-pin-themed suit, 25 years after Liz almost broke the internet with that dress.

They are also often snapped searing matching outfits, including festive Christmas jumpers.

And both mother and son are signed with the same modelling agency in London – TESS Management.

Just the two of us

As previously mentioned, Damian grew up with just Liz as a parent, living in their sprawling Hertfordshire mansion.

Because it was just the pair of them, Liz said they are “utterly comfortable” in each other’s company and that she is blessed with a “glorious child” whose personality “gels” with hers.

Damian, who has been modelling since he was 17 and is the face of celebrity makeup brand Pat McGrath, and Liz “never fight”, she said.

In an interview with YOU magazine, Liz said: “We’ve never had a horrible fight, we’re never rude to each other and I’ve always encouraged him to speak up when something is annoying or upsetting him. I try really hard to avoid stony silence.”

Last Damian returned the sentiment with a sweet Mother’s Day message on Instagram, with a picture of him as a baby with the caption: “Happy mamas’ to best friend/twin/favourite human etc etc.”

Damian and Liz are so comfortable with each other that he has even shot pictures of her for her swimwear line.

The aspiring snapper took the saucy snaps when he was just 15 and while some critics branded it as “creepy”, Liz has always staunchly defended Damian being behind the camera, saying he’s “really good at it”.

She added: “And you know, he’s got a really good eye and he’s studying photography and it’s ridiculous.”

Like mother, like son

As well as being a model like his mum, with campaigns for fashion giants such as Mert and Marcus and Katie Grand, Damian has also dabbled in acting.

And keeping it in the family, one of his first roles was on his mum’s show The Royals, playing the specially-created role of Prince Hansel of Lichtenstein in 2016.

Liz said: “He’s been such a supporter of the show and indeed of me for his whole life. And to have him actually be in costume, mic-ed up, doing his lines, I was proud.”

Though the pair spent lockdown together at their mansion watching Netflix, Liz has revleaed that Damian has now flown the nest.

She added: “I feel it’s the right time. There is going to be a big difference, for sure, but it is the natural order and the way of the world.”
