Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ Jake Abraham dies aged 56 after cancer regret

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels actor Jake Abraham has sadly died at the age of 56, months after he spoke of his cancer diagnosis.

The British actor only spoke of his cancer in July, admitting that he’d “left it too late” to get checked despite feeling ill. News of his death came from X, formerly Twitter, with fans paying tribute.

One person said: “Sad news tonight, hearing Liverpool actor Jake Abraham has passed away after his well documented battle with cancer. Everyone knows him from Lock Stock but there was so much more to Jake: from his youth performances to powerful Channel 5 drama GBH. RIP.”

Another person said: “God bless Jake Abraham. My sparkly little Evertonian mate, the talented boy from Kensington. Always a proper laugh and smile in work and play. Goodnight kid.”

In July, Jake spoke of his diagnosis, revealing that he had been feeling unwell earlier in the year and visited his doctor in February. He was then diagnosed with prostate cancer, which then spread.

Sadly, he was left with tumours on his spine and hips, and had one removed from his bladder. Jake went through radiotherapy, but was left receiving palliative care.

He told Liverpool Echo: “Doctors have told me it could be months, it could be years. It’s frightening. It’s scary, to be confronted with your own mortality is the most scary thing you’ll ever go through. To prepare for that and be cognitive mentally, but knowing that’s what’s coming, it’s tough.”

He went on: “I think most men take the approach of ‘oh, I’ll get on with it’. Well I’m palliative now, I found out really late down the line and there’s nothing they can do for me – I’ve just got it now and I’ve just got to wait for the day. But that could be avoided if you just get a PSA test. I know people might be waiting in a line and there’s 18 in the queue, but just stick with the queue. Everyone else goes ‘oh I’m not waiting’, so you end up there with the appointment.”

Jake is best known for appearing in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. He has also appeared in the likes of Prisoners Wives, Holby City, The Bill and Red Dwarf.
