Lord of the Rings ending has fans cackling as they find out rude Swedish translation

Lord of the Rings fans were left cacking with laughter after they learned what the ending translates to when the Swedish subtitles were on.

A clip of the movie is going viral on social media, showing the last few seconds of the trilogy as the door closes on a smail.

The screen then fades to black as the words ‘The End’ appeared, written in white Hobbiton font.

The subtitles read: “SLUT.”

While the word may be completely innocent in Swedish, it means something very different English, as ‘slut’ means a woman who has a lot of casual sex.

The video, which has gained more than 7.9million views, was shared on X with the caption: “I honestly recommend watching the entire LOTR trilogy with Swedish subtitles on, just for this beautiful moment.”

Fans were left howling with laughter as they took to the replies to poke fun at the translation, which has racked up 128,000 likes.

One viewer wrote: “Every few years the internet discovers that the Swedish/Danish word for “the end” is “slut” and it’s beautiful every time.”

Another commented: “…and now I know a word is Swedish.”

A third added: “I love languages.”

“Swedish Subtitles seem to be the best.,” a fourth said.

It comes after a Croatian band, Let 3, brought the house down at Eurovision’s semi-finals earlier this year, all be it with some very peculiar lyrics.

Every year, the global phenomenon welcomes some of the craziest acts to its stage, and this year, Croatia’s answer to Monty Python might be the most ridiculous of the lot.

And even before they made their way out to the M&S Bank Arena, host Rylan Clarke, warned the viewers that they were about to see something truly out of the ordinary.
