Louie Spence claims he's being 'haunted' after cooking late mum's ashes

Louie Spence is convinced he is being haunted by the ghost of his late mum after he cooked her ashes.

The former Dancing on Ice judge, 53, has since had “paranormal activity” at his 200-year-old cottage.

Louie is convinced it’s because he used his cooker to warm up the ashes of beloved Pat, who died in 2013.

He said: “We had a marble thing and her ashes were inside. Water had got in and she was just this bit of sludge. I thought, ‘We’ll cook her on the AGA’.

“She’d already been burnt at a thousand degrees anyway, so going on the AGA at about 250, I mean, it’s not going to hurt her at all.”

Within days, he started to notice eerie happenings at the property in Chelmsford, Essex.

Louie added: “I started to get this very strange smell. It was like cigarette smoke. It was just like a thick smell of smoke. Along with that, I got this waft of perfume, like your Nan, it’s that kind of smell.

“Maybe by drying her out, I’ve released her spirit. It could be my mum.”

Louie has called on three high-profile ghostbusters to investigate.

The probe was filmed for TV series Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted! which is streaming on discovery+.

Louie dried out his late mum’s ashes in 2021 after sharing a video with his Instagram followers with the ashes on top of a stove trying to dry them out.

The ashes had become wet and Louie wanted to put them right again.

He said at the time: “She was on a plinth in the garden. It was sealed but obviously the seal broke and all the water got in.

“One thing she didn’t like was swimming and she definitely didn’t like getting her hair wet.”

The ashes, which had turned to sludge, were then going back to its expected consistency and during the drying out process Louie had also added a dash of whiskey.

He cheekily added: “She’s been about 1,000 degrees when she was burnt the first time so I think it’ll be fine and she won’t know because she’ll be [bleeped] from the whisky we just put in there.”
