New Love Island presenter Maya Jama has shut down rumours that she’s back with ex Stormzy and insists she’s still “really, really single.”
Speaking to the Sunday Times Style magazine, the 28-year-old confirmed that she’s “newly single” after her recent split from Australian basketball player, Ben Simmons.
“I’m really, really single right now. Newly single,” she confessed. “It’s only been a month… but it’s nice.”

Maya continued: “We were so young when we met, just beginning our careers. I was starting at MTV. He’d not even released a single at that point. We were just little babies.”
Looking back on their relationship which sadly ended in 2019, the presenter went on to explain that at the time, she and Stormzy were just “young and in love.”
“I don’t think either of us knew it was going to be such a big thing. We were just: we’re young and in love and we’re going to go for it and work really hard,” she said. “We’re just together. We never really did red carpets. We didn’t do any of that stuff.”
Maya and Stormzy were rumoured to have began dating again last year. The pair were seen ‘getting close’ at various music and fashion events.
A source told The Sun that they’d spotted the pair at the GQ Men of the Year event in London last year, claiming that they left minutes apart in the early hours of the morning.
“They spent loads of time together at the afterparty and were chatting in a corner for ages,” the source said.
They added: “It seemed as though they went somewhere else together afterwards because she walked out and then he followed her out five minutes later.”
A second source told The Sun that the duo were “very much back in each other’s lives.”
“Stormzy and Maya are together again,” they said. “They’re taking it slow but are very much back in each other’s lives after a long time when they didn’t speak or see each other.”
