Kai Fagan has been announced as a contestant on the new series of Love Island.
The 24-year-old from Manchester works as a PE teacher, but didn’t shy away from name-dropping ahead of his reality TV debut, revealing he has family ties to ITV’s hit soap Coronation Street.
Kai revealed that his cousin Dean Fagan was in the show, acting as Luke Britton before his character was killed off by psychopathic serial killer Pat Phelan.

Luke joined the cobbles in 2014 and worked as a mechanic at Webster’s Autocentre.
During his four years on the show, Luke had relationships with leading ladies Maria Connor, Tracy Barlow and Alya Nazir.
In 2018, Luke tried to track down his sister Steph’s missing ex-boyfriend Andy Carver, who had been killed by Pat, but was stopped in his tracks after he died in a vehicle explosion from his car at the hands of Pat.
Kai also revealed that he went to the same school as Manchester United football star Marcus Rashford.
“I went to school with Marcus Rashford and we were in the same class,” he said. “The school I went to was sponsored by Manchester United – I had so many experiences because of that.”
Kai has had his own time in the sporting spotlight, admitting that he plays semi-professional rugby for Burnage RFC.
“I’m a Jamaican citizen. Because of that I played rugby 7s for Jamaica,” he revealed. “I play semi-professional rugby now for Burnage RFC.”
Kai believes he’ll bring a “calm and chilled” vibe to the villa thanks to his lightheartedness and maturity. He’s heading into the 2023 series of the popular dating show to find a “genuine connection”.
“When you first meet someone you never normally get to spend that much time with them, so when you’re genuinely looking for a connection, the Villa is the perfect place to do it,” he said.
