Zara McDermott has reportedly been signed up by Strictly Come Dancing – making her the first ever Love Island contestant to appear on the series.
The glitzy BBC show has seen the likes of singers, actors and sports stars all strut their stuff across the dance floor in a bid to be crowned the champ.
But for this year’s series, Beeb bosses have apparently made a tweak to their rules – by inviting Love Island star Zara, 26 to appear.

Zara shot to fame back in 2018 when she appeared on series four of the sexy and sun-soaked ITV2 dating show.
Since her stint on Love Island, Zara has appeared on other reality shows, as well as fronting her own BBC documentaries, Revenge Porn, Uncovering Rape Culture and Disordered Eating based on her own experiences.
And according to a source, bosses apparently reckon Zara will bring in younger viewers to the prime time show.
“Zara is the perfect signing for Strictly, not only is she beautiful and glamorous but she is hardworking and will take being on the show very seriously,” an insider claimed.
They added to MailOnline: “She’s absolutely loved the experience of documentary making and is over the moon to further her relationship with the BBC by signing up to Strictly.
‘It is a dream come true for her and becoming the first former Love Island star to do so is the icing on the cake.”
Previously, BBC held a strict rule about having no reality stars on their show – but broke the tradition in 2020 when Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing competed.
As for the infamous Strictly curse, Zara need not worry as she’s been in a relationship with Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson since 2019.
Zara is said to be joining a slew of other celebs for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Apparently, TV presenter Angela Scanlon, who hosts BBC Two’s Your Home Made Perfect, and ex- EastEnders actor Nigel Harman are on the lineup this year.
The show has also reportedly signed up Loose Women star Sophie Morgan, becoming the first ever wheelchair-using contestant.
Last year’s sequin-filled series was won by wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin and professional dancer Jowita Przystal.
