Love Island's Shaq and Tanya declare they've 'already won' after landing fourth place

Love Islanders Tanya Manhenga and Shaq Muhammad have placed fourth in the Love Island final tonight (March 13).

Shortly after their emotional declarations of love for one another, Shaq told presenter Maya Jama that he felt like he’d “already won” after falling in love with Tanya, despite missing out on the top spot.

When asked about the couple’s hiccups in Casa Amor, Shaq told Maya: “It wasn’t nice to see but obviously we’re all here to find love and I found that.”

The couple are the longest standing couple and have been together since their first day of entering the Love Island villa in South Africa.

Tanya, a 22-year-old influencer from Liverpool, partnered with Shaq, a 24-year-old airport security officer from London, on the first episode of the reality dating series.

Despite being together the longest, their relationship hasn’t come without its bumps in the road as the couple nearly didn’t survive the ultimate relationship test of Casa Amor.

However the couple have shown they have staying power, after making their relationship official following a rocky moment when Tanya chose newcomer Martin during Casa Amor leaving Shaq “lost for words”.

In the episode, host Maya Jama asked Tanya how she felt at seeing Shaq standing there alone waiting for her to return

The scouse influencer replied: “I feel like me and Shaq have something amazing so I’m not surprised.”

However a shocked Shaq said: “Just lost for words to be honest.

“I’ve been honest since day one and I actually meant it when I said I love you. But I guess not everyone means it when they say something like that.

“It is what it is. A game’s a game.”

The couple nearly didn’t reconcile with a heartbroken Shaq claiming it was the end for the couple as he told her: “Well it is the end for me. So good luck to you, but that situation is done and dusted.”

However an optimistic Tanya was determined to ride things out as she said: “We personally haven’t had any speed bumps in here like other couple’s have. I hear you, but what’s meant to be will be.”

The couple since reconciled and have been a firm viewer favourite right up until the finale.
