Love Island’s ‘snooze fest’ slammed by fuming fans as series approaches climax

Love Island viewers headed to social in media in their droves on Friday to express their frustration at the evening’s “snooze fest” episode.

As bookies’ favourites to win Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki headed out on their final date aboard a “bougie” yacht, fans were left disappointed that the latest instalment had little else to offer, just days ahead of this year’s final.

Indeed, it was the final dates that bore the brunt of the criticism online, with many suggesting ITV should cram all of them into a single episode rather than “drag them out” over the course of a few days.

Some were left shocked that there will be no baby challenge this series for the first time, whilst others felt the ‘meet the parents’ episode should have been saved for this weekend.

Discussing the dates, one Twitter user declared: “It’s getting really boring with these dates! So repetitive! Same chat over and over again! You look gorgeous, never felt like this before, etc, etc.”

Another agreed: “The dates are boring, cant they be crammed into one episode #LoveIsland.”

A third added: “I know the final dates episodes are always a bit boring but this is a genuine snooze fest. #LoveIsland.”

The smoothie fallout following the boys’ challenge left some fans frustrated

As Whitney and Lochan’s date passed without drama as expected, footage returned to the villa where Jess Harding and Sammy Root appeared to be falling out over a smoothie.

Earlier in the show, the boys had been tasked with a series of secret missions, which if they passed, would have resulted in a prize.

Sammy fell short, however, after partner Jess refused to consume the drink, which resulted in tension between the pair afterwards.

It left some viewers annoyed that producers couldn’t come up with anything better to air from the villa in the past 24 hours.

“Are things so dead in the villa Sammy has to go at it with Jess over this smoothie?” asked one Twitter user.

A second wrote: “The editors ran out of footage because why am i seeing Jess and Sammy argue over smoothies… #LoveIsland.”

Whilst another appeared relived the baby challenge had been omitted despite the episode being “dull”.

They commented: “Honestly this episode is so dull but I’m just glad I’m not listening to those robot babies cry #LoveIsland.”

In contrast, another chimed: “Where are the babies this year? Would have been better than this silly challenge.”

Friday’s show concluded wit the news that ahead of Monday’s grand finale, one couple will cruelly be given the axe on Sunday.

Islanders Whitney and Lochan, and Mitch and Ella B are the most at risk after being voted the least compatible couple by their co-stars.

Their fate now lies with the voting public.

Love Island airs nightly on ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm, with series’ final airing on Monday.
