Margot Robbie reveals incredible gift she gave her mum after Hollywood fame

Margot Robbie has revealed that she gave her mum a very special gift after she achieved her success in Hollywood.

The 33-year-old has recently starred as the titular character in the Barbie movie, which has become a phenomenon over the past weekend.

However, Margot has given some of her credit for her Hollywood success to her mum Sarie, explaining how she owed “everything” to her and made a list of all the times her mother had helped her.

It meant she decided to pay off her mum’s mortgage as Sarie had taken money out of her mortgage in order to help Margot achieve her acting dreams.

The actress told CBS Sunday Morning: “She’d take money out of the, like, house mortgage [to] lend me money.

“So I always knew, I was like, ‘I gotta pay that back’. And then one day, when I made enough money, I just paid that whole mortgage off completely.”

Margot added: “I was like, ‘Mom, don’t even worry about that mortgage anymore. It doesn’t even exist anymore.”

This comes after Vogue sat in on an interview with Margot and her director Greta Gerwig about Barbie for the August issue of the magazine.

In the conversation, Greta recalled the first time that she met the Hollywood star, saying that she remembered “everything” from their encounter.

She said: “I remember everything about that meeting, like really, I do. I remember what you were wearing.

“I remember what you ate. I sound like a psycho! You were wearing a white blazer and jeans. I was so impressed with you.”

Margot also spoke about the “hype” around the movie and related it to “comic book films”.

She said: “Comic book films, there’s definitely hype. But there’s something about Barbie that is a version of hype that I have not experienced before.

“It’s like everyone had this thing inside them that’s just bursting to get out and now they have the permission to let it all out and they’re exploding with it! It’s crazy.”

Greta agreed and said: “There’s something about getting to make this kind of movie with a big soundtrack and a fabulous cast and it’s this imaginary world and the fantasy of a big ol’ Hollywood thing.”
