One Mary Poppins star looks completely unrecognisable as she celebrates her 100th birthday. Glynis Johns rose to fame as Suffragettee Winnifred Banks, mother of Jane and Michael, in the hit Disney musical Mary Poppins way back in 1964.
But her first ever acting role came in 1938’s South Riding, before she landed roles in everything from 1995 rom-com While You Were Sleeping to sitcom Cheers in 1983. Before she retired from acting, Glynis had one last role in 1999 flick Superstar.
This week, the actress turned 100 and shared a poignant message with fans about her long career. She now looks a lot different from her days as Winnifred – but still as glam as ever.

Sporting shoulder-length grey hair, Glynis dressed to impress in a tiger-striped dress, adding a string of pearls to her ensemble and swiping on a deep pink pout while leaving the rest of her skin make-up free. She could be seen propped up on pillows in her bed with a metal railing attached to the side, and was in good spirits as she joked with the interviewer.
On Thursday (October 5), she chatted to ABC 7 about her long career – and admitted that being 100 “doesn’t make any difference” to her.
She joked: “Well, I looked very good for every age.” And when told that her work will live on forever with fans, Glynis said, “What a lovely thought. That’s what I hoped.” Glynis even remarked of winning a Tony award for her role in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music: “Well, it’s better than nothing, I suppose.”
Meanwhile, her grandson Thomas Forwood issued an emotional statement about his grandma, telling MailOnline: “I am so delighted that my grandmother is set to make it to this landmark birthday and we send her many congratulations.
“Glynis enjoyed a fabulous career over many decades during which she showed her immense talent and versatility in a range of parts on screen and stage. Almost everyone will have seen her work and be familiar with her face and voice – she’s in so many pieces that people hold dear.”

Since retiring from acting, Glynis has moved to a retirement home in Beverly Hills, California.
