Meghan Markle and Prince Harry 'nobodies in Hollywood' after Elton John party snub

Former royals Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been dubbed “nobodies in Hollywood” after they failed to appear at any Academy Awards 2023 events over the weekend.

One of the events was held by legendary singer and friend of Princess Diana, Sir Elton John, who hosted his annual AIDS Foundation Oscars bash and raised a record $9million (£7.4m) in a bid to prevent new cases of HIV and fight stigma.

This year’s event was attended by the likes of Donatella Versace, Heidi Klum, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez and Rina Sawayama.

Royal expert and author Tom Bower deduced that Meghan and Harry’s absence from the exclusive Oscars events places question marks over their influence over the pond.

“They weren’t even invited to Elton John’s party at the Oscars,” he told GB News. “They really are nobodies in Hollywood!”

The event raises money for the Elton John AIDS Foundation for a cause which was very close to Harry’s late mother Princess Diana’s heart.

In 1987 Diana hit headlines after she challenged the stigma around HIV by shaking the hand of a man suffering from the illness.

She famously opened the UK’s first purpose-built HIV unit that cared for patients infected with the virus at London Middlesex Hospital.

Tickets for the event are sold to the general public as well as invites being sent off to top celebrities.

Meghan and Harry’s lack of invitation comes after Harry snubbed Elton in January this year as he revealed he’d had a disagreement with the I’m Still Standing hitmaker at his house in France.

During their stay with Elton and his husband David Furnish, Harry recalled watching Elton studying his son, Archie’s face, saying he knew it was because of his son’s strong resemblance to Diana.

It’s said the tense disagreement happened on the final night of their stay.

Moreover, in the royal’s tell-all book, Spare, he sent tributes to celebrities including Chris Martin and comedian James Corden, but failed to mention Elton.

Harry said he was congratulating Elton on finishing his memoir, Me, but the atmosphere soured when the I’m Still Standing singer revealed it was going to be serialised in the Daily Mail.
