Netflix’s The Crown to pay sweet tribute to Queen Elizabeth II in new series

A tribute will be given to the late Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix’s final series of The Crown by including a special line up.

As part of this, all three of the actresses to play Queen Elizabeth II throughout the series will feature once again.

New scenes have been shot with Claire Foy, 39, Olivia Colman, 49, and Imelda Staunton, 67, who have all depicted the Queen throughout her life.

While reflecting on her life, the Netflix series will also use a new actor, Viola Prettejohn, to play Queen Elizabeth II during her younger years from the war time.

An insider source told The Sun that the idea to feature all four actresses as Queen Elizabeth once again probably stemmed from the Queen’s passing last year, which saw a record-breaking global audience tune in to watch her funeral.

“Netflix are playing a clever hand with these four queens, bringing the story of Her Majesty to a sensational end after telling virtually all of her life story over 60 episodes.

“It also indicated the respect and affection which the creators have for the lates monarch, even though they might not feel the same way about the royals as an institution.

“The idea would most likely have been devised last year, around the time that the Queen passed away, as a way of paying tribute to her.

“Getting the actresses together was no feat as both Claire and Olivia went on to bigger things after making The Crown and have packed schedules.”

Although plenty of actresses have taken on royal roles over the years, all three actresses to take on Queen Elizabeth in The Crown have received high praise for their versions of the monarch.

Imelda Staunton was nominated for a BAFTA following her depiction of Queen Elizabeth

It is unknown whether there will be similar kinds of royal coverage to come from Netflix after The Crown concludes.

However, The Sun has reported that the creators of The Crown are considering making a film about the Windsors, either looking at Queen Elizabeth before her reign, or digging into the current rift between Prince William and Harry.
