Peter Kay leaves fans divided as he calls out 'a**ehole heckler' at arena show

Peter Kay has divided fans at one of his recent sold-out live shows after he called out a heckler and removed him from the arena.

The 49-year-old comic is currently on a mammoth comeback UK tour, Better Late Than Never, after he spent 12 years away from the limelight.

This weekend, Peter returned to Liverpool to perform to his loyal legion of fans across two nights at the M&S Bank Arena.

However, things seemed to get a little awkward when a man heckled the Bolton comedian and interrupted the show last night (January 7).

Stopping the sold-out show, Peter said: “Oh, it’s all kicking off here. Where’s my phone? He’s a bit of an a******e, he’s a bit annoying.”

He continued: “I like a laugh, I’m a comedian but I can tell all them, people, round there are getting a bit …. now.

“He likes the limelight, I know I do but I’m on stage,” proclaimed Peter, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Shortly after the drama unfolded, fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts – and it seems many are divided.

“I was there last night. Brilliant show. I’m glad you got rid of the heckler. Bravo!,” one social media user penned.

Someone else tweeted: “Absolutely top entertainment at the M&S Bank Arena last night. Expert way of dealing with a k***head heckler as well, think 13,000 people were glad to see him escorted out.”

A third smitten fan gushed: “You are so talented & so glad you got rid of the heckler. Please continue being you.”

However, other people who were at the show claimed that Peter overreacted and called out his decision to kick out the man.

“First half [was] funny tonight until you decided to throw that feller out for asking for an autograph, doesn’t look good mate I thought you was one of us,” someone else tweeted.

Replying to that tweet, one fan came to the defence of Peter writing: “Think there was more to it than that, everyone around him seemed p****d off and when they took him out he was staggering all over the place.”
