Phillip Schofield’s younger lover ‘claims he was not quizzed by ITV over affair’

Phillip Schofield’s younger former lover has reportedly claimed he was not quizzed by ITV over his relationship with the axed This Morning host.

The network released a statement last week in which they said both parties had been questioned, and both had “categorically and repeatedly” denied the rumours of their affair.

Phil, 61, admitted to the “unwise but not illegal” affair in a bombshell statement on Friday (May 26), but asked that the identity of the younger man not be shared to protect his privacy.

In the fall-out, ITV, Phil’s now former agent group YMU and ex co-star Holly Willoughby spoke out against his “lies”.

But in the latest development, Phil’s former lover, who was 15 when they met years before the affair started, has denied being questioned about it, according to Daily Mail.

The publication claimed sources said the younger man, who had worked on This Morning and is now in his 20s, has insisted “he was never asked”, while another source claimed: “Everybody just knew about it.”

One source told the paper: “It’s time for some truths to be told now, this has been brushed under the carpet for so long and it has to come to an end. The younger man has got to the point now where won’t lie for anyone but actually, he says he was never asked by ITV about any relationship.

“It is time that people were held to account, or at the very least explain themselves.”

However ITV has again made their position clear, saying: “Both parties were questioned.”

It’s reported that the channel would not say when the questioning happened or who led it.

ITV top dog Kevin Lygo told Sky News over the weekend that “no mistakes” were made when the network tried to figure out what was going on.

The channel’s earlier statement said: “Further to our statement last night, ITV can confirm that when rumours of a relationship between Phillip Schofield and an employee of ITV first began to circulate in early 2020 ITV investigated.

“Both parties were questioned and both categorically and repeatedly denied the rumours as did Phillip’s then agency YMU.

“In addition, ITV spoke to a number of people who worked on This Morning and were not provided with, and did not find, any evidence of a relationship beyond hearsay and rumour.

“Phillip’s statement yesterday reveals that he lied to people at ITV, from senior management to fellow presenters, to YMU, to the media and to others over this relationship.”
